Alex!! You were always my favorite Crockett!!

How's your gramps? We're still praying for him and your family.

Oh, that's going to leave a mark ..

What was that I heard someone say? Something like, "If you have to go around telling everyone you are 'the man', you're probably not the man."

I'm honestly not a football fan anymore, but I gotta put my 2 cents in. The 49ers got KILLED yesterday. REALLY killed. Dominated is a good word. In preseason, end result doesn't matter at all, who really cares football.

So once again...

Talk smack about the 49ers when your team has one 5 Superbowls. (Alex has permission, since she's a Cowboys fan.) Otherwise, there really is nothing to talk about.

:^)

The only season that counts is this one. So, the Raiders took a couple of years off...no big deal.

Back in [silver and] black, I hit the sack,
I've been too long, I'm glad to be back
Yes I'm let loose from the noose,
That's kept me hangin' about

Some Common Myths (from Mythbusters):
1. Big Foot
2. Exploding Airline Toilets
3. Man Killed by a Penny Dropped From the Empire State Buiilding
4. Ex-Football Fans

You know, Muhammed Ali is a three time champ, but now he can't even wipe himself ..

So let's not talk about the glory days just quite yet .. 9ers are still a franchise that COULD be good but AIN'T ..

It's actually working AGAINST them that they have 5 Super Bowls ..

Wassamatter, poor little Whiners? Can't stop the big nasty Silver & Black attack?

Go cry to your mommy!

:)

Dale

PS I don't even like football .. I just like kicking a guy while he's down .. :)

It was only a preseason game yesterday...but man, that felt good!!! I'm with you Brian in that I haven't been much of a football fan lately, but I still get fired up when I see a Raiders game or more likely when I see the score (since they are hardly on TV)... Once the silver and black gets in your blood, it's there for life!!

Don't look at the picture...that was Steve that posted. :-)

Yeah, that's Steve in the background right? ;0}

I'm such a rebel, now rebelling against your myths. 'Cause I glanced at about 10 plays during that game yesterday, and it was the first time in 3 years since God took that monkey off my back.

I am a true ex-football fan. Who has the time? Especially if you go to church on Sunday...

oops. This isn't the right blog to say that on, is it?

Brian, you are so funny! That mischievous look you have in your picture is coming through (hee hee). Are you guys going to play nice or am I going to have to steal Jacqui's "oh, look at the bunnies..." line? Just kidding you guys, I love all of you!!

P.S. I had better clarify this is Vicki speaking and not Steve this time. The "I love you guys" might not go over well in this manly conversation. I know, I know...go away Vicki!

Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favors what you do. - Ecclesiastes 9:7

I like to think Solomon knew what he was talking about (some say he was kinda smart). Today, my food is football and my wine is the Raiders spanking the 49ers. I'm happy with ESPN highlights if that's what God gives me. Maybe one day T-Vo??

A friend and I were sitting in the bleachers watching the Giants and Angels play in the World Series (we were cheering for the Angels), and we started to discuss why God created sports and huge stadiums to watch them in. Before you knew it, the family in front of us, the group beside us, and the people on our left and right joined in the conversation.

Some were obviously saved, some were obviously not - but, there we were in Pac Bell Stadium at the World Series talking about God and sports (about a dozen or so people).

That conversation lasted nearly the entire game. Good thing I didn't give up baseball.

Oh, yeah, almost forgot a couple of points...

The Giants lost the game and the series to the Angels (I'm just pointin' out the facts - far be it from me to take cheap shots).

And, although I do state quite emphatically that the church has its place, I never said to obsess over it.

You may feel free to debate, discuss, or preach on this blog. All points of view are welcomed and appreciated (regardless of team affiliation).

Okay, Vicki, now I'll play nice. And Steve can say he loves me any day of the week. I love that big lug!

Brian said...

Laurence, I surrender!

You crack me up. Honestly, I'm writing this with a big grin on my face.

This was fun. A nice break from the endless debating about important things. 'Cause sports really don't matter.

Thank you, my friend.

(I think I was at that Giants game. Was Livon Hernandez pitching? I was rooting for the Giants. I admit it proudly. They got spanked.)

Laurence said...

Brian, I accept your surrender and terms for a cease fire (said as I dance victoriously around the room).

It's good to take a respite from the more serious subjects. I believe that's why He created sports and other leisure activities for us to enjoy. This was fun.

And you're also right, it was Livan Hernandez pitching in Game 3. Giants pitchers gave up something like 16 or 17 hits on their way to losing 10 to 4. Bonds belted one out into the Bay that night (wind and chemical assisted), but it was a little too late.

Take care, my friend. I pass the peace pipe over to you.

Brian said...

As I'm smoking the peace pipe, a question comes to mind...

God created sports? Did he say that?

Maybe it's just whatever is in this pipe I'm smoking...maybe it will help me hit home runs too.

For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. - Colossians 1:16

If I believe He created everything, then shouldn't I believe He created sports? Or, at least He gave us our competetive nature that manifests itself in sports. There must be something to that.

And quit bogartin'!
